New art exhibition at the WMDC: Icons in music by Nick Oudshoorn

The current art exhibition by Nick Oudshoorn at the WMDC continues where the exhibition by Easton Davy ended: icons in music. In this new exhibition, Oudshoorn portrays legendary music icons through his paintings and screen printings. His work adds a new image to the myths and legends of the blues and jazz.

Oudshoorn first paints the icons on canvas or board to use the painted images for screen printing. The prints are clearly related to pop art.

From 1995 to 2003 Oudshoorn, who lives in Leiden and New Zealand, exhibited annually at the North Sea Jazz Festival. For the festival he also made the certificate that belongs to the Bird Award. The Music Inspired Art Foundation uses his archive to exhibit and sell his work at different locations. Not only music lovers have paintings from Nick Oudshoorn on their wall; many of the musicians themselves also have their own portrait by Nick Oudshoorn at home.

The exposition of Nick Oudshoorn at the WMC is a sales exhibition and has free access. The exhibition is set up by the Music Inspired Art Foundation and is open until July 23rd
